Jill Stein is an American physician, activist, and politician best known for her work with the Green Party in the United States. She was the Green Party's presidential candidate in both the 2012 and 2016 elections. Throughout her campaigns, Stein promoted progressive policies focused on social, economic, and environmental justice, including universal healthcare, climate action, student debt relief, and an end to U.S. military intervention abroad.
One of Stein’s hallmark proposals was the "Green New Deal," aimed at transitioning the U.S. to 100% renewable energy by 2030 while creating millions of jobs in sustainable sectors. Her platform also emphasized grassroots democracy, fair wages, racial justice, and a more accessible and affordable education system. While Stein didn't secure many votes in the general elections, she succeeded in amplifying the Green Party's values and drawing attention to issues not often covered by the two main political parties.
After the 2016 election, Stein requested a recount in certain states due to concerns over election integrity and the potential vulnerability of voting systems, furthering her advocacy for electoral reform.
